This Monday’s meetup surprised me in the best possible way:
instead of the usual 80–100 sign-ups, the event was shadow-banned — only 15 people registered.

But then something beautiful happened:
​more people showed up than were on the list.​
Regulars, newcomers, and a few who simply walked in because it felt right.

It reminded me that connection isn’t built by algorithms,
but by people who choose to show up. 💙

And speaking of showing up —
this is the very first edition of our new weekly Community Newsletter. From now on, you’ll find all Social Butterfly Club updates, news, and upcoming meetups right here in one place.

How do you celebrate Christmas?

Also at this week’s Monday meetup, I started a small survey because I genuinely want to understand all the different ways our Social Butterflies experience December. Everyone wrote a short note about how they celebrate Christmas — or don’t — and reading through them later was truly heart-warming.

There were joyful traditions, quiet days, chosen family celebrations, cultural blends, and honest stories of spending the holidays alone. It reminded me how beautifully diverse our community is.

I would love to collect even more voices, so if you feel like sharing, simply reply to this email and tell me:

Julia’s Salon is coming back

Next year, I’m bringing back Julia’s Salon — a midweek gathering inspired by the classic 19th-century salon tradition: lively conversations, fascinating encounters, and the exchange of ideas over drinks.

I’d love to have a special guest for each edition, and I’m currently looking for volunteers. Don’t worry: you don’t need to give a lecture or prepare slides. The idea is simply to spark a conversation about something that’s close to your heart.

Here are a few examples of possible topics:

• What it’s like to live in a certain country or city
• Goals, visions, or ideas for changing the world
• A hobby you deeply enjoy
• What it’s like to be/do XYZ
• A skill or passion you’d love to share

Christmas Market Meetups

Your one and only favourite Social Butterfly host (Julia) is absolutely obsessed with Christmas markets — and honestly, I still can’t explain why. Maybe it’s the lights, maybe it’s the atmosphere, or maybe it’s simply the fact that every market feels like its own little universe.

This year, you can join the fun once again: I’ve selected and planned eight different Christmas markets for us to explore together. Whether you join one or all eight, I’m excited to discover Berlin’s winter magic with you.

Social Butterfly Club Christmas Party

Last but not least, you are warmly invited to our Christmas Party on December 22.

Let’s wrap up the year with laughter, lights, and a little bit of sparkle — together. 🌟

Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater or any fun holiday accessories — the more over-the-top, the better!

🎅✨Please bring a small wrapped gift (around 5 €).
Later in the evening, Santa himself will stop by to hand them out in true Butterfly style.
